The BostonOD Celtics are on a roll. They easily have the best starting five in the NBA, and Al Horford is perhaps the league’s most versatile and impactful sixth man. They do not require any reinforcements to win the championship this season, but they will need to make some moves in the offseason to extend their championship window and replace their aging stars.

The NBA Draft is the greatest way to accomplish this, especially if your team is expensive and has salary cap difficulties, such as the Boston Celtics. As a result, the Celtics’ future depends on who they select in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Unfortunately, the Celtics will select at the conclusion of the first round because they are expected to finish with the best record in the NBA. It is often tough to uncover top-tier talent with the 30th pick, but a solid role player could be found.

Daron Holmes II of Dayton is described by O’Connor as a “throwback big who can block shots and finish lobs, with the benefit of modern switchability”.

“With Al Horford nearing retirement, the Celtics may utilize this pick to invest in a frontcourt potential. This season, Holmes has improved as a shooter, adding to his enticing combination of big man talents.

That sounds a lot like Al Horford, who is having another great season despite being 37. However, it is clear that he will not be able to maintain this level indefinitely.

It is difficult to find an Al Horford substitute. He possesses good size, toughness, shooting, passing, and defensive skills. It is difficult to find that combo with the 30th pick in the draft. But, if anyone is going to do it, it will be General Manager Brad Stevens.
