MLB fans had hoped for greater action in free agency and, particularly, the trade market.
However, market factors and teams’ desire to gamble on their own farm systems and young players have made them hesitant to invest money and pursue superstars.
As a result, reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell, former MVP Cody Bellinger, postseason hero Jordan Montgomery, and other key players remain accessible.
The trade market has also been quiet, with the Chicago White Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, and Cleveland Guardians all appearing unlikely to sell Dylan Cease, Corbin Burnes, and Shane Bieber, respectively.
On that point, the Brewers were also considering trading Willy Adames.
According to MLB source Jon Morosi, this will not advance to the next stage of negotiations.

Adames has been the Brewers’ starting shortstop for the past few years, having joined from the Tampa Bay Rays in 2021.
He is a good shortstop defender with plenty of power, hitting 31 home runs in 2022 and 24 in 2023.
The team acquiring Adames (if a trade occurs, which is improbable at this point) must understand that his batting average will always be a burden.
Last season, he hit.217/.310/.407 with a.717 OPS.
His career average is.247.
Adames appears to be a trade candidate as the deadline approaches.
