The Las Vegas Raiders are hoping to add fresh talent to their squad in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Raiders began to lay the groundwork in last year’s draft class, but they could add additional players with their picks to completely secure their young core. The Raiders, under by Coach Antonio Pierce and General Manager Tom Telesco, will seek players that suit the culture Pierce developed when he took over in an interim role midway through the 2023 season.

One of those guys may be Georgia cornerback Kamari Lassiter, who comes from a defense that is consistently ranked among the best in college football. Lassiter, a competitive, athletic defensive back, could be an ideal fit for the Raiders’ defensive scheme.

Lassiter finished his Bulldogs career with 86 total tackles, eight and a half tackles for loss, a sack, 14 passes defensed, and one interception. While the numbers do not pop out, Lassiter’s physical tools and potential make him an appealing possibility. Lassiter is 6 feet tall and weighs 180 pounds. Those measurements may appear little, but he plays considerably larger. Lassiter is an excellent run defender, with remarkable physicality and the ability to get off blocks with powerful hands and speed. Lassiter is also a standout coverage corner. According to Pro Football Focus, he only allowed 56 receptions on 108 targets for 726 yards and two touchdowns. Lassiter is one of the greatest cornerback prospects in the draft. He possesses the classic outside corner skill set and the drive required to be a No. 1 corner. He also played special teams for the Bulldogs, something he might continue doing at the next level. While Lassiter enjoys playing violently, he has a tendency to use his hands excessively, which may result in penalties in the NFL. His lack of ball skills is an issue, as elite corners must make plays with the ball at the next level. Lassiter is predicted to be a late first-round pick. From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be hosted in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The NFL Draft will take place in Detroit, Michigan, on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders presently have the 13th overall pick.
