Arizona’s Scottsdale (AP) — On Monday, salary arbitration hearings were held for Phil Bickford of the New York Mets and Mauricio Dubón of Houston.
Dubón requested a rise from $1.4 million to $3.5 million in a case heard by John Woods, Jeanne Charles, and Janice Johnston, while the Astros argued for $3 million.
In a case handled by Robert Herzog, Margaret Brogan, and Stephen Raymond, Bickford sought an increase from $740,000 to $900,000. The Mets responded by claiming he should receive $815,000 towards his compensation.
Along with the cases of right-hander Jacob Webb, outfielder Taylor Ward of the Los Angeles Angels, Austin Hays of Baltimore, and right-hander Austin Hays, which were debated last week, decisions in those cases are anticipated on Tuesday.
Following his acquisition from San Francisco in May 2022, the 29-year-old Dubón spent his first complete season with Houston, where he hit.278 with 10 home runs and 46 RBIs.
The 28-year-old reliever Bickford was acquired by the Mets on August 1 and finished 5-5 with a 4.95 ERA in 61 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Teams defeated Miami outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. ($2,625,000 vs. $2.9 million) and Angels left-hander José Suarez ($925,000 vs. $1.35 million) in their first two decisions of the season.
