NEWS NOW:  Alabaam and Auburn’s might have title to…..

FAYETTEVILLE — It’s clear that Kentucky has dominated SEC basketball for many years.

However, Arkansas and the two teams in the state known as The Heart of Dixie have had the most recent and significant success in the league’s postseason.

Together, Alabama and Auburn have won the last three SEC regular-season championships. With a 16-2 record in 2022, the Crimson Tide defeated Arkansas by 2.5 games; Auburn finished 15-3 in 2022, giving them a one-game advantage over Kentucky and Tennessee; and Alabama finished 16-2 in the previous season, defeating Texas A&M by one game.

A crucial rematch between the Crimson Tide and Tigers is scheduled for 6 p.m.; the teams are once again atop the conference standings. Wednesday at (ESPN2)

After a 2-0 week that featured a stunning comeback in an 85-76 victory away at Georgia and a 99-67 rout of Mississippi State at Coleman Coliseum on Saturday, Alabama (16-6, 8-1 SEC) maintained its lead in the SEC.

Two weeks ago, Auburn (18-4, 7-2 SEC) was leading the SEC until dropping their next two away games to Alabama (79-75) and Mississippi State (64-58). However, the Tigers under Coach Bruce Pearl bounced back, defeating Vanderbilt 81-54 at home on Wednesday and Ole Miss 91-77 on Saturday thanks to a stunning comeback victory.

At one point in the first half, the Tigers were down by as many as 13 points (42–29), but they battled back to hand Ole Miss its first home defeat of the Chris Beard Era.
