According to Joe Person, the Panthers and LS J.J. Jansen agreed to terms on a one-year contract on Friday.

Jansen, 38, originally joined with the Packers as an undrafted free agent fromin 20 Notre Dame 08. He was eventually dealt to the Panthers for a conditional seventh-round pick.

Jansen completed a four-year contract and signed a five-year extension with the Panthers in 2016. He’s been with Carolina on an annual basis since his previous contract expired.

Jansen was the Panthers’ long snapper for all 17 games in 2023.

Russell Wilson’s two-year time with the Broncos may be classified as a disaster, since he went 11-19 as a starter. It was surprise that it ended so soon after Wilson signed a five-year, $242.5 million contract with Denver in 2022, but many believe the 35-year-old is past his prime.

Michael Lombardi, the former general manager and three-time Super Bowl champion, is not among those. In fact, he believes Wilson can have a revival comparable to Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner at the end of his NFL career.

Warner spent one season with the Giants (2004), throwing six touchdowns and four interceptions in ten games. Many thought he’d seen his finest days in the league, but he received another chance with the Cardinals and made the most of it.

Warner led Arizona to Super Bowl XLIII in his final few seasons, passing for 11,753 yards and 83 touchdowns.

Which team, according to Lombardi, provides Wilson the best chance of ending his career like Warner?

“I would go to Pittsburgh because they’re going to be a good team defensively,” he said. “He won’t have to carry the team. In addition, he has some very skilled players. They have some pretty good skill players that we haven’t recognized due to a lack of quarterback play.”
