The Thursday Night Football game between the Green Bay Packers and the visiting Detroit Lions was marked by controversy. A Packers supporter drenched Lions wide receiver Amon-ra St. Brown with beer after he performed his own Lambeau Leap.

Amon-ra St. Brown simply shrugged and handled the incident in stride. According to Colton Pouncy of The Athletic, he even added some comedy when discussing the beer pouring disaster.

A Packers fan doused Amon-ra St. Brown with beer

Jared Goff, Lions quarterback, found Amon-ra St. Brown in single coverage on the left sideline for a score in the first quarter. After scoring, Amon-ra St. Brown leapt into the arms of many Detroit fans behind the end zone at Lambeau Field. A Packers fan did not find the gesture amusing and swiftly poured beer on Amon-ra St. Brown’s helmet.

The Lions’ spirits were not dampened by the beer dousing. Detroit scored 27 consecutive baskets to grab a commanding 24-point advantage at halftime. After scoring two consecutive touchdowns in the second half, the Packers narrowed the lead to ten points.

To their dismay, Lions’ David Montgomery scored his third touchdown of the game, thus putting the game out of reach. The Lions won their third consecutive prime-time game, taking top position in the NFC North rankings.

Throughout their first four games, the Packers have been inconsistent. This time, their inefficiency on both sides of the ground game cost them. Green Bay managed just 27 running yards against the Lions on Thursday. On the other hand, they gave up 211 running yards against a reinvigorated Detroit team. Lions running back David Montgomery relished his first win over the Packers in his four-year NFL career.
