The Detroit Lions terminated relations with Cameron Sutton on March 21, after police in Florida stated he was sought on a domestic violence warrant.

As police continue to seek for Sutton on charges of strangling a woman, a concerning report from his collegiate football days at the University of Tennessee has surfaced. Sutton suffered concussion symptoms at the time and admitted that he frequently passed out while playing games, according to stories that have prompted renewed interest among fans since the allegations were made against him.

Cameron Sutton Revealed in College: ‘I Just Black Out’

While playing football for Tennessee in college, Sutton was forced to exit a November 2014 game against Missouri due to concussion symptoms. The cornerback then stated that he frequently experienced blackouts while playing, raising fears about a more serious issue.

“From time to time, it just happens throughout the course of the day,” Sutton told AL.com in 2014. “I might black out, but I keep going and nothing occurs. This is the first time that has happened in a game. But, you know, I’m not going to let it stop me from getting back out there and finishing the game.”

Sutton underlined that he suffered from the disease on a frequent basis.

“This does not happen every day. “For the two seconds it happens, I just black out, come back, and go about my business,” he explained.

Some Lions fans retweeted the tale of Sutton’s in-game blackouts, speculating whether he had sustained additional concussion damage.

On March 20, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Florida sought for assistance in locating Sutton, who is wanted on a warrant and charged with domestic violence by strangulation, a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

“He’s been ducking us,” Phil Martello, a sheriff’s communications officer, told MLive. “Our deputies have exhausted all leads. He has vehicles and a residence nearby, but he has not gone there. “He has turned off his phone.”
