Nick Chubb has had a quiet offseason, but the Cleveland Browns’ Dark Knight appears to be on his way back to the field.

Chubb posted an image on social media with his superhero idol, Batman. The photo depicts Batman being beaten down but eventually rising to his feet, ready to battle again. Chubb’s message is clear: he’s confident in his recovery from the horrific knee injury he suffered last season.

It could possibly be a reference to a recent statement from his general manager, Andrew Berry, who gave an update on Chubb’s status during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.

“First of all, nobody wants to bet against Batman, right? We call him Batman here. And Nick, he is a special player and a special human being,” Berry said on May 2. “He is doing well on his road to recovery. He still has a long way to go. Because, obviously, it was a serious knee injury. But this past month, he actually started running on land.”

Chubb had two separate surgeries to repair his ACL and MCL, the most recent of which occurred in November. Chubb recently stepped up his rehabilitation with “load running.” A specific timeline for a return is still unknown.

Browns RB Nick Chubb Recently Restructured Contract

Chubb is the heart and soul of Cleveland’s offense. He is a four-time Pro Bowler and the franchise’s fourth-leading rusher of all time. Chubb has accumulated 6,511 yards and 48 touchdowns in 77 career games. He averages 84.6 yards per game and 5.3 yards per rush.

The Browns are Chubb recently agreed to a reworked contract that placed a significant portion of his compensation into incentives. The Browns could have released Chubb, saving $11.8 million in cap space. However, Berry knew that would not be an option given Chubb’s worth to the franchise.
