Last season, the Detroit Lions made a huge addition to their tight end room by selecting Sam LaPorta with a high second-round pick, who went on to become a breakout standout. An analyst forecasts that the addition of LaPorta, paired with a new contract for fellow tight end Brock Wright, will push James Mitchell to the outside of the roster bubble this summer.

“It’ll be a pivotal training camp for Mitchell, who has struggled with injury through two seasons with the Lions,” said Christian Booher of SI.com’s All Lions. “Detroit struck gold with last year’s choice of Sam LaPorta and elected to retain Brock Wright after he received an offer sheet from the 49ers.”
