The Pittsburgh Steelers could build a package of offensive plays for Justin Fields this season, and Russell Wilson says he supports the concept.

Barring an injury, Wilson is expected to start at quarterback for Pittsburgh in 2024. There has been speculation that Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith will design certain plays for Fields rather than having him serve as a regular second-string quarterback.

On Wednesday, Tim Benz of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review asked Wilson if the veteran would be willing to give Fields some snaps. Wilson offered nothing but compliments for his new partner.

“Justin is obviously one of the most talented guys in the NFL,” Wilson stated. “You are aware of all he is capable of doing. He is a quarterback. He is dynamic. It is all about us winning. That is the focus. I believe it would strike dread in certain defenses, for sure.

“Justin is the franchise quarterback. He’s a man capable of many incredible feats. So we have two dynamic players that can do a lot of unique things.”

Fields told reporters on Tuesday that he is open to playing a gadget role coming season, but that no such plays have been developed yet. The former Chicago Bears standout also batted down a claim that he was used in

The Steelers are thought to have complete faith in Wilson, even though Fields intends to make head coach Mike Tomlin’s selection difficult. Assuming Wilson retains the starting role, Fields appears certain to get some touches in certain situations.
