The New York Giants aim to get back to .500 after falling 1-2 to begin the season. It’s a tough ask, though, as they’re taking on NFC East rival, the Dallas Cowboys, on “Thursday Night Football.” Although the Giants received plenty of flack to begin the season, there’s been one major bright spot on the roster. Rookie phenom Malik Nabers has already flashed major potential and already looks like a bonafide superstar.
Entering Week 4, Nabers had already recorded 23 receptions, 271 yards, and three touchdowns. After a tough outing in Week 1, quarterback Daniel Jones has made sure to target the 21-year-old wide receiver often. Nabers’ brilliant play continued on Thursday night. In the first quarter, the star receiver reeled in a nice 39-yard reception. But it was his route running that caught the attention of sports fans everywhere.
The Giants’ superstar juked Cowboys’ cornerback Andrew Booth so hard that he fell to the ground. Booth couldn’t recover, and Nabers was able to get wide open for a solid gain.
You just don’t see receivers get that wide open in the NFL. It’s almost unheard of. But Nabers is cut from a different cloth. He entered the league as one of the best receiver prospects we’ve seen alongside Marvin Harrison Jr. who was selected by the Arizona Cardinals. That juke essentially left sports fans speechless. Especially considering he’s just a rookie. We should expect to see Nabers make plays like that throughout the course of his career. But it’s going to be astonishing either way. Here’s what fans were saying about his juke. “That was nasty,” admitted one fan.
This fan needed just one word, stating, “Holy.” “This guy is incredible,” claimed another fan. It might be a long day for Andrew Booth, as this fan proclaims, “[The Giants] will take that matchup with 25 all day.”
“Dude is nasty,” according to another fan. The Giants selected Nabers with the No. 6 pick overall of the 2024 NFL Draft. Before going pro, he proved to be one of the most consistent wide receivers in college football playing for the LSU Tigers. Nabers began his collegiate career as a backup during his freshman year. However, He was promoted to a starting role by his sophomore role and never looked looked back. After three years at LSU, the star receiver finished with 189 receptions, 3,003 yards, and 21 touchdowns. 14 of those touchdowns came in the 2023 season.
