The Dallas Cowboys’ awful defense needed help on their first drive of Thursday Night Football against the New York Giants, and they got it from an unexpected source. Big Blue got off to a hot start on that drive when Daniel Jones hit Malik Nabers with a 39-yard completion with 12:19 left in the first quarter, Nabers, who is off to an amazing beginning to his NFL career, completely cooked Cowboys cornerback Andrew Booth on that play.
Two plays later, tight end Daniel Bellinger was called for face mask on Dallas linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. This was extremely odd, as it was clear that Overshown grabbed Bellinger’s face mask.
That penalty put the Giants back at the Dallas 48-yard line, and they had to settle for a field goal.
That wasn’t the end of Martin’s apparent Cowboys favoritism. Dallas’ second offensive drive ended with a 15-yard pass from Dak Prescott to running back Rico Dowdle. It was clear that on the play, Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson was holding a Giants defender. There was a flag on the play, but the crew picked it up, and there was no call for holding.
