During the transfer deadline, Nottingham Forest made a valiant effort to acquire Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah. The athlete can now depart the Blues in January in order to pursue a regular first-team football schedule.

The 24-year-old was the subject of interest from Bayern Munich in the summer. Once that move fell through, Forest came forward with a £25 million bid that was accepted by Chelsea ahead of the deadline.

However, Chalobah wasn’t interested in moving to Forest. He made the decision to remain and contend for a spot at Stamford Bridge, despite having yet to appear in any of Mauricio Pochettino’s teams during the 2023–24 season.

Forest target Chalobah now set to leave Chelsea in January

The well-known journalist Fabrizio Romano is the source of this information. Although he now says that talks with Bayern might resume, he also says that the race to sign him is open.

Chalobah has fallen way down the pecking order at Chelsea. He came through the ranks at Stamford Bridge and he’s made 63 appearances for the Blues during his time in the senior Chelsea team.

The player will now be counting down the days until January. He will be desperate to get out and play some football and it will be intriguing to see where he heads when the window reopens.

Forest have now moved on at centre-back

Forest target Chalobah has proved a very useful player for Chelsea when he has been called upon. Rio Ferdinand called him ‘unbelievable’ back in 2019 and he was very impressed with the player who typically plays at centre-back.

However, it appears that Forest left Chalobah behind. Prior to the deadline, the club moved to sign Murillo and Andrew Omobamidele, and the former has performed exceptionally well for the team.

It’s difficult to imagine Forest adding another center back as early as January. Because other teams are now fighting for Steve Cooper’s services, this may be one contract that he is ready to park.
