Aaron Nesmith was more productive in his first season with the Indiana Pacers than he was in two campaigns with the Boston Celtics, helping the 2020 first-round pick earn a respectable second contract.
Nesmith, who was selected 14th overall by the Celtics in the 2020 NBA Draft, was traded to Indiana prior to the 2022-23 campaign. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported that the 24-year-old agreed to a three-year, $33 million contract extension with the Pacers on Monday.
The Vanderbilt product averaged 10.1 points per game on 42.7 percent shooting last season for the Pacers. He played just 25 minutes per game after being limited to 14 and 11 minutes in his first two campaigns with the Celtics. Nesmith averaged 4.7 and 3.8 points in those two seasons.
The 6-foot-1 guard was traded to Indiana in a trade that helped Boston acquire Malcolm Brogdon. Nesmith was one of five players to transfer from Boston to Indiana.
