Recently, Real Madrid has been connected to a few Manchester City players. That shouldn’t be a huge surprise given that the Treble winners have the best team in Europe. Naturally, there have been ties to Erling Haaland for a very long time, and given his tremendous scoring record, it’s likely that they will last for some time to come.

On the other hand, Julian Alvarez is a player who seems to be on the radar of Los Blancos too. The Argentine World Cup winner struggled for starts in his debut campaign at Manchester City but seems to have established himself as a key player this season.

Thus, the rumours linking Real Madrid with those two are understandable. The recent links with another Manchester City player have confused a lot of fans though.

Kalvin Phillips is rumoured to be in their sights. As reported by TuttoJuve, Manchester City would like a transfer to the highest bidder, currently Newcastle United, but also Real Madrid. Juventus are believed to be  in the Englishman as well.

Real Madrid leading race for €50m Manchester City midfielder

Manchester City signed Phillips for a transfer fee of around €50 million. The England international has barely been a feature for them since.

Thus, it would be no surprise if Manchester City parted ways with him soon. On the other hand, Real Madrid have arguably the best midfield department in world football right now.

So, if someone is only going to be a squad player at most, it would not make much sense for them to pay a large transfer fee to bring him in. Respectfully, I find it difficult to envisage Phillips surpassing players like Luka Modric, Fede Valverde, Toni Kroos, Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurelien Tchouameni.
