The legendary Green Bay Packers showed some life last week when they defeated Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers, preserving their slender hopes of earning a postseason berth.

The Packers have had a short week to get ready for their Thanksgiving Day matchup against the division foe and top-seeded Detroit Lions, having just secured their fourth victory of the 2023 NFL season.

This game will arguably be the game of the year for the Packers as it could mark an end to a disappointing 2023 campaign or spark the beginning of a run at making the playoffs, as a win over Detroit would go far for a number of different reasons.

Unfortunately for the Packers, Green Bay will be heading into this NFC North showdown without one of their best offensive players on the field.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Packers will be without star running back Aaron Jones when they go head-to-head against Dan Campbell’s squad on Thursday.

This has not been a memorable year for Jones, as it could be argued that AJ Dillon is now the lead back for the Packers moving forward or he’s at least making a strong case to become the top back for Green Bay.

Jones has played in only seven games thus far for the Packers this season, rushing for 245 yards and two touchdowns on 66 carries while adding 169 receiving yards and a touchdown on 30 receptions.

Dillon can carry the weight, even if Jones’ absence will be felt, but it probably won’t be enough to defeat the Lions on Thursday.
