Despite not being on the official roster for the past two months, the Ole Miss Rebels lost a top-tier tight end on Saturday. Tight end Michael Trigg has entered the transfer portal, according to Chris Hummer of 247 Sports.
Trigg stepped away from the Ole Miss football program in late September, being removed from the team’s website. Head coach Lane Kiffin spoke on Trigg’s departure, saying, “We wish him nothing but the best. He’s not part of our program.”

Trigg, a former four-star prospect per 247Sports, played his first college season with the USC Trojans, recording seven receptions for 109 yards and one touchdown. He transferred to Ole Miss the following season, playing seven games for the Rebels. During his inaugural campaign with Lane Kiffin’s club, he collected 17 receptions for 156 yards and three scores. His best game came against Central Arkansas in early September, catching five passes for 28 yards and three touchdowns.
Trigg played in only three games this season before leaving the program. He had three catches from 44 yards in the season opener against Mercer, followed by a one-catch, 21-yard touchdown game against Tulane. However, after getting blanked by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Week 3, Trigg left the Ole Miss football program.
Ole Miss Rebels: Face Off Against Top Ranked Penn State Nittany Lions in Peach Bowl
Ole Miss will play the top-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions in the Peach Bowl. The Rebels finished the regular season 10-2, with their lone losses against powerhouses Georgia and Alabama. Quarterback Jaxson Dart shined during the 2023 season, throwing for 2,985 yards and 20 touchdowns against five interceptions. Additionally, he ran for 377 yards and seven scores.
Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions also went 10-2, losing to juggernauts Michigan and Ohio State. Sophomore quarterback Drew Allar tossed 23 touchdowns against just one pick this season but struggled against top-end talent. He threw for just 261 yards combined during his team’s two losses.
