Mason Mount will perform “much better” for Manchester United once he is fully assimilated, according to Erik ten Hag.

In the 3-0 League Cup victory over Crystal Palace, Mount made his long-awaited comeback from a muscular ailment that had kept him out since August 20. He put on a masterful first half and earned his first assist on Casemiro’s headed goal.

At halftime, Ten Hag made a pre-planned substitution of the £60 million Mount in preparation for Saturday’s Premier League showdown with Palace.

Sofyan Amrabat, teammate of Mount’s in midfield, started the game as backup left defender. After the break, he moved back to midfield and remained there until the hour mark.

Ten Hag praised Mount’s performance: “He performed extremely well. “I’m sure he’ll play much better once he’s fully assimilated. He just began working for United

Sofyan is a player who can play in a variety of positions, which is one of the reasons we signed him. He will play wherever the club needs him to.

Every player has their best position, but they all contribute to the game’s dynamics. We’ve seen him today, but we’ve only just begun for him and many other players.

The numerous injuries we have slowed down this process a little bit because when you play with the same team for a long time, routines develop, players get to know one another, and things become more automatic. You can see Mason, Amrabat, and other players; they can and will improve our game.
