In the past year or so, there have been a few false starts when it comes to Chelsea beginning a new era of domination in the Premier League. Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter may have had high expectations after the takeover a year ago, but neither would remain in the hot seat for very long.

Bruno Saltor and Frank Lampard’s interim managing assignments did not result in an improvement in their teams’ performances, so when Mauricio Pochettino was hired in the summer, there was hope that things may turn around. With Southampton and Tottenham as well as PSG, the Argentinean coach had a track record of building exciting, young teams.

While some performances have been positive, it’s fair to say that the start to life at Stamford Bridge has not been ideal for Pochettino. From almost a full team of injuries to constant arrivals, poor finishing to unfortunate decisions, the results just have not quite been there.

It’s cranking up the pressure on the head coach after just a handful of games, with five points taken from their opening six league games. It has led to early murmurs of discontent amongst the fanbase, with some calls for a change in management already
