After being bought out by the Indiana Pacers, veteran center Daniel Theis signed with the Los Angeles Clippers. It was a wonderful fit for both sides, as the Clippers needed a backup big in Mason Plumlee’s absence due to injury, and Theis was searching for consistent minutes after playing little in Indiana. In an interview with Brian Robb of Mass Live following LA’s stunning win over Boston on Saturday, Theis said he explored a reunion with Boston before signing with the Clippers.

“Obviously, I had a couple of conversations (with Boston),” Theis informed Robb. “I spoke briefly with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.” But, as I previously stated, the Clippers were quick to provide me with an opportunity.

Theis continued, “So, for me, it was just about getting back on the floor. Indiana just wasn’t right for me; it didn’t fit. For me, it was simply getting back on the court as soon as possible, competing and enjoying basketball.” Theis began his career with the Celtics in 2017 and spent three seasons in Boston before being traded to the Chicago Bulls in 2021. After just 23 games for Chicago, Theis was traded to the Houston Rockets before returning to Boston for another spell in 2021-22. Theis has a close contact with his former Boston colleagues despite joining the Clippers.
